The only confirmed children of John and Nancy are Elizabeth, Grace and Margaret.

John Anderton was born on 22 November and christened on the 10th of December in the year 1803, the son of Elizabeth or "Betty" Anderton of Pemberton and Peter Campbell a "Scotsman". John's birthplace seems to be Wigan. All of the presently known family residences are in the various suburbs of Manchester, including Wigan and Pemberton. Manchester is inland about thirty miles from the seaport of Liverpool.

Peter Campbell is called a "Drummer" by his grandson, James Anderton, but is listed by his son John as a "Collier" or a coal worker or dealer. There is no further information on Peter Campbell. It appears that Peter Campbell and Elizabeth Anderton were never married.

Elizabeth Anderton, John's mother, later lived with John's family and is by trade a practical nurse. She appears to be very well spoken of by those who knew her. We have no definite details of the early life of Elizabeth Anderton, nor of her son John. Perhaps Elizabeth's father was called Billy.

John Anderton married Nancy  Ashurst, widow of Henry Ashurst on 26 April 1826. Nancy had a son Henry Ashurst Junior who was born about 1822 and died when about ten years old.

Joseph was born on 1 Nov 1813 in Burton Latimar, Northampton, England. He died on 24 Oct 1901 in American Fork, UT, UT. He was buried in Oct 1901 in American Fork, Utah, Utah.
	5	M	v	Grace Anderton was born on 13 Apr 1831. She died on 19 Jan 1895. Grace married Richard Haywood on 7 Nov 1852 in Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire. England. Richard was born about 1840 in England. He died on 4 Jul 1893 in Girardville, Schuylkill, PA.

Nancy seems to have died between 1834 and 31 May 1838 when John married at Wigan ,Lancashire ,England to Mary Leather. The marriage has been documented. John is listed as age 34, a widower with the profession of Cordwainer, (a worker in Cordovan leather, or shoemaker). Mary is listed as age 29, a spinster. Both John and Mary are shown as residents of Queen Street in Wigan Union, Lancashire, England at the time of their marriage.

+	11	M	xi	William Anderton was born on 25 Feb 1842. He died on 21 Dec 1886. William married Martha Holden. Martha was born on 18 Jun 1840 in Hyde, Cheshire , England. She was christened on 8 Aug 1841 in Ashton Under Lyne, Lancashire, England. She died on 2 Apr 1926 in Bountiful, Davis, Utah . She was buried on 5 Apr 1926 in Richfield, Sevier, UT.

	14	M	xiv	Richard Anderton was born on 22 Feb 1849 in Wigan, Lancshire, England. He died on 26 Mar 1931 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. He was buried in Wasatch Lawn Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake, Utah. Richard married Alice Eliza Ann Terry.
+	15	M	xv	Levi Nephi Anderton was born on 4 Jul 1851. He died on 16 Dec 1930. Levi married Josephine Hansen on 6 Nov 1879 in Monroe, Sevier, Utah. Josephine was born on 10 Aug 1864 in Crossing, the plains near, Council Bluffs, Iowa. She died on 20 Aug 1935 in Cedarview, Duchesne, Utah. She was buried in Cedar View, Duchesne, Utah.

John and Mary resided at Wigan until the year 1851 when they moved to Ashton Under Lyne, another suburb of Manchester.

Some of Mary's family, the Leather family, had joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints during the 1840's as had the older Anderton girls, Elizabeth and Grace. They took their father and step-mother to church with them and on 24 December 1852 John and Mary with sons James and William were baptized at Grenny Brook. The children under eight years of age apparently did not get baptized when they became eight years old.

John seems to have followed the trade of shoemaker, as he became a Journeyman Shoemaker. John died on 24 February 1858 of Asthma at the age of 55 years at Ashton Under Lyne, Lancshire, England.

Mary Leather Anderton accompanied her boys to America. She died 14 September 1864 while living in Saint Clair, Schuylkill, PA, USA.

Elizabeth "Betty" Anderton, John's mother would of been about 80 years of age at the time of the Anderton's coming to 'America. All of John's family came to American leaving her without descendants or family in England. She wanted to come with them, but was too old to make the trip, so she was left behind with friends. It is said that she sorrowed herself to death soon after they left.
